I have never really been the kind of person who wears a lot of jewelry but I do admit that I have a penchant for all things shiny. It’s like I must have been a drag queen of some sort in past life.

Walking past all the jewelry stores in St Germain and St Honoré, I just can’t help but drool over the window displays while hoping not to scare away the opposite sex giving them the idea that all women want are expensive accessories. It makes me wish my life would play out like that scene from Gossip Girl when Chuck presents Blair with a gorgeous ring.

Someone showed me a link to the website of 77 Diamonds and it’s kinda cool because I never knew we could purchase such products online and even customize some of the items. How tempting…. and I have definitely decided that for me, the bigger and shinier it is, the better!

I have done a shoot before with lots of fine, expensive jewelry and there was so much security surrounding it I felt like I was working with a highly guarded celebrity. It was quite hilarious really, the jewelry had a schedule that we had to work around which left me only 1-2 hours to finish photographing (just like that episode of Ugly Betty and the Million Dollar Bra).

This reminds me of a documentary I’ve seen before about diamonds on the red carpet. Some celebrities had to hire extra bodyguards because of the value of whatever they were wearing around their necks. It makes me wonder, is the excitement in the danger of it?

Maybe I should think twice about wearing massive diamond encrusted waterfall earrings when I head for a night out. Perhaps a chunky bejeweled cocktail ring is the way to go?

Or better yet, wait for someone to buy me one (ahem). A girl can only dream.
